This school is determined to drive itself into ruin. The administration has their priorities backwards and refuses to admit that they have no clue how to run a high school. They will not listen to their teachers or students when they give criticism. They focus more on things like how to prevent the students from physical contact rather than the blatant bullying and disrespect that happens at this school. With no discipline system, the administration pretends they have everything under control, ignoring the fact that at least four teachers have quit due to the inability to teach their students because of the lack of discipline. They focus on things like a "Focus" class to waste students electives and maintaining the strict no backpack policy instead of the lack of electives and extracurriculars, no classes for students passed Algebra II, and lack of any discipline system whatsoever. Honestly! No discipline! If a student is late, they go to the office and get a pass to class with no question! There is no punishment! All the while, the administration does whatever they can to seem intimidating and make students uncomfortable when they walk by. This school has potential, but if the administration keep going down the path they are going, it will inevitably fail.

But that is just outward appearance. Read students review. They know best what the school is like. Most of them say the school doesn't know how to handle parents and prospective teachers. The staff team do not have professional etiquette. They will not inform or contact you about any news regarding you. They will only contact you if it serves their interest. Very selfish and unethical.

UPDATE: Since I have written this review, many things have changed at Discovery High School. Administration has become more lenient in some areas and more strict in others. While they still do struggle disciplining students, they now offer more classes for students and have, for the most part, their feet on the ground. Another student who reviewed claimed that Advanced Placement would be mostly directed towards incoming freshmen. This is not true. Upperclassmen are being offered more Advanced Placement classes than freshmen are for the 2017-2018 school year. The person who wrote that review seems to have good intentions but are misinforming people who genuinely want to know about the school. While the school does still have problems it needs to address (bullying, discipline, organization) it seems to be gradually better not just for the students but the staff as well. Come August, there will be new administration thankfully. Though I will not name anyone, some members of the administrative staff would be better suited at the middle school rather than at the high school. There still aren't very many extracurricular activities or opportunities for community service hours, but once there is a structure set up for clubs and teams, the responsibility will fall on the students to develop that aspect of the school. As I have stated previously, the school does have potential and it seems now, with the changes that are being made, that it has changed course and is heading in a better direction. Perhaps that as time goes on, it will be a school worth being proud of.

The school looks nice and new. Shows excellent potential for good education.

Good school, better then the zoned school our son was zoned for. However I wish the school would inform parents better of what is going on, update their website and the parent portal. I realize in high school you are preparing them for the real world, but some children need a little extra guidance. This is the first year and they did pretty good . I can only hope for better next year.

I recently got into a phone conversation with the Executive Director and was cut off by her. I was just asking a question and then she hung up, mid conversation. So you can only judge for yourself if that is a good school. Excellent school ground and education. But I hope you think about how bad professional etiquette teachers are teaching your kids. What would that say to students trying to learn to be good responsible adults?

**UPDATED SEE BELOW**

As of right now, I have been enrolled in this school for a few months. It's not the best. The so-called "focus" class shouldn't be added to a students because all they do is sit around and do nothing. The focus time should be turned into an extracurricular class or something of that level. The lunch room is almost done, probably needs two or three more days. After this is built some of the classrooms will be enlarged and some will be made. I enjoy spending time with my friends, and I like being able to have some freedom. Freedom is what we students don't get a lot of. We are restricted from going behind the school to just talk! It's dumb! Students need their freedom.

As a student currently getting an education here, I know more about what goes on than the average parent concerned with the school. To begin with, the freedom is limited severely compared to every other high school. For instance, you cannot even have a book bag at the school and are only allowed the bag they give or any bags similar which break easily and does not hold too much anyways. You get sent to the office if you're caught and you have to keep the bag up there all day if you have one, which I believe is not the brightest idea as it is a pointless rule and book bags have more durability as well as room to carry things in. During Valentines Day, when students brought their friends or significant others a gift with or without balloons, they were forced to bring it to the office and could not receive anything out of it. In regular high schools, you carried it around all day and just set it in the front of the class so it is not distracting if the teacher feels like it would be. Also, the way the students are treated is similar to how they treat the middle schoolers, just with a few extra freedoms. There are numerous childish students, although the teachers and staff have to watch over them no matter what as if they are not old enough to do anything without supervision and tell students what to do even when they are not doing anything considered wrong. Suspensions, lunch detentions, and work details are all three used in the wrong ways sometimes, even when the event that took place was not major and the school made it seem that way. The whole concept makes sense, although it is slightly absurd to the extent of how it is currently being used this year. The whole point of high school is to take a step forward and slowly prepare for college, not a step back and treat the place just like how you treat the middle school. For the following years, the school is supposed to gradually obtain AP classes, although it will be aimed towards the freshmen and sophomores that have not had any extra classes that put them ahead in credits. If you have extra credits than the average person, then you will most likely not get the college credit and remain in honors or regular classes because the AP class offered you either already took or you simply are above that. Dual enrollment is also told to maybe not be offered next year, which many students will end up relying on for college credit if it isn't offered at the school. The lack of availability and diverse classes at the school just proves that it was open way too early and could not provide everything that the school promised in the first place. Focus, which is a class every student was put in, has a good aim in what the school is trying to teach the students, but only teaches them what they want to be and what college they want to go to instead of how to actually get there. Having students choose between a finance class or anything else actually used in day-to-day life as an adult would of been incredibly more useful. Construction is still not even started for the gym and lunch room that they plan to build, which is going to be crucial for next year if they plan to expand the school and accept over the amount of students they currently have. I completely agree with the morals and main objective of the school, however if they continue to stay the way they are then there is no possibility that the school will grow and be presented as an actual high school. Hopefully the school reads this and takes in anything mentioned into consideration, thank you for taking the time to read it.
